ThisFrench Gilt Bronze Chandelier with Pale Green Glass Shade is in Excellent Condition,c1870. Featuring 13 Lights a pale green glass shade banded at the bottom by a bronze rim is crowned by a ring of pierced foliate ornament. The shade surmounts an urn base with decorative finial from which issue two outscrolling arms applied with espagnolettes. Each arm raises three curved candle branches adorned with fleur-de-lis and acanthus leaves. Two cartouche mounts applied on the shade’s rim extend into curved arms that fork into three candle branches, each one elevating a single light. The fluted bobeches are draped with garlands and rest atop simple drip pans. Suspended on a curved bronze support beneath a fleur-de-lis corona. Despite the fact that this chandelier was originally crafted as a gas light, candle bobeches and drip pans were included in the design to maintain continuity of style.
