This Oil on Board "Naughty Maid in Pink", Joseph Henri Condamin, (FRENCH, 1847-1917) is in Excellent Condition. Framed size 31 x 26 1/8 ", 19 X 23 1/8", This painting is in its original, carved and gilded frame. Joseph Henri Condamin was born in Lyon, France in 1847. He studied genre painting in Lyon under Pierre Bonirote (genre painter, 1811-1891) and in Paris under Alexandre Cabenel (a classicist in painting and sculpture, 1823-1889) who ranked with Bougeuereau (1825-1905) as one of the most influential and successful Academic French artists of the period. Condamin exhibited in the Salons of Paris in 1874 and is known for genre paintings, portraits, still life's and sculptures.
Genre scenes are defined as pictorial representations that record events from daily life such as domestic settings, street scenes and interiors. The artist may interpret these scenes as realistic, imagined or romanticized.
In this 19th century genre painting, a maid is possibly costumed in her mistress's dress and shoes but with her maid apron and maid's cap as well. In a rose colored dress, she quietly listens at the door to hear if anyone might be coming who would discover she has borrowed the fine dress from her mistress. Her mop rests against a fine French table in a beautifully appointed room full of lush crimson red drapery, a Chinese porcelain base with a large plant and a French chair. In the upper right of the canvas, a large sculptural bust is included. Condamin was known for his sculptures as well as his genre paintings.
The maid's lavish pink dress cascades to the rich burnt-red floor as she leans closely to the door intently listening for approaching sounds or voices. Her luxurious garments are carefully rendered with delicate brush strokes to accentuate the fine silk dress complete with a cinched waist and gathered bustle gravitating downward.
Crimson curtains drape the background of this scene. The intricately detailed furniture such as the rich red upholstered chair demonstrates a typical Rococo European interior of the late 19th century. Please view and zoom all pictures, serious inquiries are welcome!

This Oil on Canvas, "Vallee de la Seine", Raymond Thibesart is in Excellent Condition. Son of an affluent family, Raymond Thibesart was born in Troyes, France on May 2, 1874. Soon after, the Thibesart's moved to the small town of Enghien outside of Paris. It was here that Raymond first began to study art with Venezuelan Impressionist master Emile Boggio at the age of eleven. He later began his formal art education at the Lycée Rollin in Paris. He entered the l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1894, followed by the Acadèmie Julian in Paris where his teachers Jules Lefevre and Tony Robert Fleury introduced him to the Symbolist Movement which heavily influenced the early part of his career.
At the turn of the century, Thibesart spent much time in Southern France and Italy painting with Boggio and Henri Martin. From this time on, Thibesart worked in the Post-Impressionist style. He often traveled to Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Corsica to record the landscape. With great enthusiasm and energy, he used pastels to sketch the light, the passage of the wind, the flowering trees, the mornings of white frost or snow, the agricultural work, and the aura of these lands. In the tranquility of his workshop, these colored chalk drawings allowed him to execute oil paintings that retained the spontaneity and beauty of his subjects.
Thibesart exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris where he was a Silver Medalist in 1922; at the Salon des Indépendants; and at the Salon d'Automne. He was a member of the Societé des Artistes Francais from 1897, Member Salon des Indépendents since 1905, and a member of the Salon d'Automne, Paris. His work is found in the following public and private collections: the Salon des Artistes Français, the Contempory Art Gallery, Paris, Gallery Georges Petit, Paris, the Galerie des Champs-Elysees, Paris, the National Museum of Caracus, France, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Troyes, France.

This Oil on Board, "Le Chene", Pierre Gaston Rigaud is in Excellent Condition, c1935. Framed size is 25 3/4 x 28 3/4 inches., 15" X 18" unframed. Pierre Gaston Rigaud was born April 4, 1874 in Bordeaux. He was a well-regarded Post-Impressionist plein-air painter, best known for his marine scenes, landscapes and church interiors. Rigaud began his artistic training with artists Bonnat and Albert Maignan. He later moved to Paris where he shared a studio in Montmartre with Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. He found himself enveloped by the vibrancy of the avant-garde art movement at the turn of the century in Paris.
Rigaud became a member of the Society des Artistes Francais in 1906, after which time he became a visible and regular figure in the Salon exhibitions. Beginning in 1907, he started exhibiting at the Salon des Independants, followed by the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. He was invited to participate in a National Exhibition with the Salon d' Automne at the Tuileries, where he was awarded a Silver medal in 1920 and a Gold medal in 1923.
Rigaud sold very few paintings during his lifetime because he remained dedicated to the truth of nature, style and subject. He held on to his purest convictions of the plein air style until his death. He had ample opportunity to capture the beauty of nature en plein air at his home in Corsia, where many of his paintings were executed. Rigaud's work embodied a robust and mystical view of nature, as seen in the prominent, almost life-like trees and enchanting colors in "Le Chene". Following in the footsteps of the Impressionist masters Monet and Sisley before him, Rigaud relished in capturing the fleeting yet dramatic effects of light on the striking terrain of Southern France. Riguad continued to be inspired by the power of art and nature until his death in 1949. Exhibitions: 1906 Societé des Artists Francais 1920 Silver Medal, 1923 Gold Medal 1909 Galerie Georges Petit, 1925 Galerie Charpentier. Museums: Musee Carnavalet, Paris Le Luxembourg, Paris, Musee La Tour Du Pin Musee de Limoges, Musee de Bourdeaux Musee de Mulhouse. Please view and zoom closely, serious inquiries are welcome!

This Charming Oil on Canvas, Jeux de Chatons signed Max Carlier is in Excellent Condition. Max Carlier is one of the great still life masters of Belgium. Born in Tourcoing, Belgium in 1872, Carlier was a painter of the Belgian School who most typically executed still lifes of florals and fruits. He also painted genre scenes and interiors from time to time. He lived and worked primarily in Brussels, but traveled extensively throughout Europe, especially Italy. Carlier lived and worked in Brittany for a short period of time as well. Working with a warm palette, Carlier's still lifes are painted in the Neo-Dutch tradition. This tradition took on force towards the end of the 18th century with artists such as Gérard van Spaendonck, Jan van Huysum and Rachel Roysch. The finely executed still lifes gained an unwavering popularity throughout Europe during the 19th century. As with these great leaders in still life painting, Carlier demonstrates an analytical approach, opulent compositions, unerring eye for refined detail, unparalleled craftsmanship and a high finish. In this charming painting of three kittens playing with a ball on a string and lapping milk from a teacup, Carlier has exhibited his precise detail and warm palette for which he is known. Framed size is 31 x 34", canvas is 20 1/2 X 24 1/2", please view all pictures to enjoy, serious inquiries are welcome!

This Rare and Exceptional Baroque period Northern Italian Walnut Sculpture of Putti Harvesting Grapes is in Excellent Condition, c. 18th century. The iconography of putti harvesting grapes is unique in its historical evolution. Putti and grapes have ancient value as symbols of the god of wine, Dionysus (Bacchus). Early Christians adapted the theme as a representation of the Eucharist. This is one of the very few instances of Christianity assimilating a pagan visual symbol. The most notable example of the early use of putti harvesting grapes in Christian iconography is in Santa Costanza in Rome. Putti again became extremely popular decorative devices in the Baroque period. This sculpture is an exceptional example of the theme, having 16 individualized disporting putti entangled in grape vines emerging from a foliate carved base featuring a life sized conch shell. The sculpture is raised on an octagonal pedestal carved with additional Baroque styled devices. This piece was specifically commissioned by an important Italian family originally residing in San Pellegrino Terme (Province of Bergamo, Region of Lombardia) and later relocated to a village near Guardia Sanframondi (Province of Benevento, Region of Campania). The top putto was positioned to appear to be supporting the entry hall ceiling of the family palazzo. Measuring 39 ½” diameter base x 127” H it is Incredible for the most Elite of Continental Designs. Please view and zoom all pictures, serious inquiries are welcome!
