| This R. Tann’s Safe, England, c.19th century is in Excellent Overall Condition. “R. Tann’s Twelve Corner Defiance Safe, London Fields, London.” John Tann Ltd. was founded in 1795 in the UK and supplied all the major financial institutions including the Bank of England. John R. Tann (R. Tann’s) was likely a son or grandson of the founder who produced his own safes. The brass plate of the English Royal Coat of Arms indicates this safe was made by a company holding a Royal Warrant. The Royal Warrant indicates a company that supplies the royal family with goods or services for a period over five years. Only a member of the royal family can confer this honor.
